- Close CATIA completely

- Go to the Commands tab
- Find the missing command in the appropriate category
- Drag it onto your new toolbar
Fix 3: Check Workbench-Specific Commands
CATIA V5 organizes commands by workbench. The Transformation features (Pattern, Mirror, Rectangular Pattern, etc.) are in the Part Design workbench. If you're in a different workbench, they won't appear in the Customize dialog.

Don't use the default toolbars — they contain commands you never use and are missing commands you use constantly.
- Tools → Customize → Toolbars → New
- Create toolbars organized by workflow phase:
- "My Sketch Tools" — Line, Spline, Constraint, Quick Dimension, Trim
- "My Part Tools" — Pad, Pocket, Hole, Edge Fillet, Draft
- "My Pattern Tools" — Rectangular Pattern, Circular Pattern, User Pattern
- "My Assembly Tools" — Coincidence, Contact, Offset, Fix Together
- Add only the commands you use regularly
Save Your Workspace
Once you have your toolbars set up:
- Tools → Customize → Toolbars
- Note the names of your custom toolbars
- The CATSettings folder now contains your configuration
- Back up the CATSettings folder to a safe location
- If toolbars disappear again, you can restore from this backup
Share Your Workspace with Your Team
- Copy your CATSettings folder to a network share
- On each team member's machine:
- Close CATIA
- Delete their CATSettings folder
- Copy your CATSettings folder to the same location
- Restart CATIA
- Each user will now have the same toolbar layout

Sharing Custom Toolbars Across a Team
When multiple engineers need the same toolbar layout, the most reliable approach is to export and import the entire CATSettings configuration. I maintain a golden CATSettings template on our network share that contains our company-standard toolbars, standards, and display preferences. When a new engineer joins or someone's settings get corrupted, we copy the golden template to their workstation. This ensures everyone starts from the same baseline.
One caveat: the CATSettings folder also contains machine-specific settings like recent file lists and window positions. These don't cause problems when copied between similar workstations, but if the screen resolutions differ, toolbar positions may be off. Users can manually reposition toolbars after the copy without affecting the command availability.

The fastest, most reliable fix is a full CATSettings reset — rename the folder, restart CATIA, and rebuild your customizations.
